• Your media is stored in secure vaults that are temperature and humidity controlled, with barcode scanning to ensure your media goes to the right location in the vault and can be quickly retrieved.

• Storage sites are security alarmed and monitored 24 hours a day.

In Plan-b’s experience there are a number of risks associated with a reliance on staff taking the backup tapes offsite or storing tapes in a vault. These include:

• Systematic regularity of the tape heading off site

• Timely retrieval of tapes

• What happens if that staff member is on leave?

• Security of the tapes while in the possession of the staff member

• Delivery of the tapes where they are needed in the event of a crisis – turnaround time?

• Getting access to the safe if the building is burnt down or otherwise inaccessible.
