gray_mathiasGray Mathias - Non-Executive Chairman

Successful New Zealand entrepreneur Gray Mathias first got involved in Plan-b early in the decade. Before venturing into technology, he was a pioneer in the New Zealand lamb processing industry, having founded Mathias Meats in 1974 and Horizon Meats in 1986. Both have since been sold to corporate purchasers. Gray's wide-ranging business interests include National Meats, Contingent Properties and Australian V8 Super Cars. He took a controlling interest in Plan-b in 2007.


ian_forrester2Ian Forrester, CFA - Managing Director

Ian is an experienced corporate financier and strategist responsible for managing Plan-b's professional team. Since taking the helm, Ian has initiated and overseen Plan-b's expansion into Hamilton, Wellington and Christchurch, the introduction of Plan-b’s advisory service and the broadening of Plan-b's technical service offering. Before joining Plan-b he was an investment banker working internationally for companies including First NZ Capital (formerly Credit Suisse in New Zealand), SG Hambros and KPMG Corporate Finance. Ian has an honours degree in business and finance and completed the Capital Markets Qualification from the London Securities Institute. He is a CFA charter holder and a member of the CFA Society of New Zealand and the CFA Institute.


symonSymon Thurlow - Technical Director

Symon started his career in the IT industry as a software consultant in 1995, implementing manufacturing software in New Zealand and Asia. A strong interest in the underlying infrastructure saw Symon move into systems engineering and later IT consultancy with an infrastructure focus. After consulting both in New Zealand and Europe, Symon joined Plan-b in 2003. Initially refining the technical processes around delivery of services and infrastructure, Symon now focuses on driving our technical strategy and growth.


ian_tukeIan Tuke - Operations Director

Ian manages the non-technical elements of Plan-b and heads our Advisory Service. He began his career with the New Zealand Police and was a detective prior to establishing and managing New Zealand Immigration's verification function. He then moved into professional services, becoming a senior manager with KPMG's Australasian forensic practice. He has 18 years experience in helping organisations manage risk and supporting them through unexpected events. Ian joined Plan-b in 2007.


shaunShaun Webber - General Manager, Technical Services

A highly technical and articulate professional, Shaun started his career as a systems integrator many years ago and quickly moved into a consultancy position, becoming involved in many infrastructure projects in New Zealand and abroad. Shaun joined Plan-b in 2005 and was largely responsible for the development of our online backup products BackupNOW, ServerNOW and RecordNOW.
